In moments of life’s challenges — such as divorce or separation — our emotional and mental state often becomes filled with doubt and a lack of faith.Faith is the quiet virtue that keeps us moving forward. It allows us to trust our actions and believe that life has meaning, even when the path ahead feels uncertain.
During times of deep distress, holding onto faith and trust can feel like swimming against a strong current of emotional turmoil. Yet, if we look at the natural order of life, faith is something we’re born with.A baby, for example, has complete faith in their mother — trusting her instinct, love, and understanding to provide what is needed. That is the purest form of trust — and the foundation of how life is meant to flow.
When we experience separation, loss, or any other life-changing event, this natural order feels broken. Our minds and hearts enter a state of chaos. Deep down, we may know that this chaos won’t last forever — yet our thoughts struggle to trust again, weighed down by disappointment, disbelief, and distress. In such moments, our thoughts can become our own worst enemies.
So how do we deal with a mind that resists trusting in the goodness of life again?
The first step is acceptance.Thank your mind and emotions for trying to protect you. Acknowledge their voice and simply say, “I understand.” By doing so, you begin to loosen their grip.
Next, create gentle movement — take small, planned actions that help you move forward. This is where my background in accounting offers an interesting perspective.
A business is valued through three elements: assets, liabilities, and equity. I believe this simple structure can also describe our inner world:
Assets: What you currently have — your strengths, kindness, values, and support systems.
Liabilities: Your responsibilities — caring for yourself, your children, your home, or rebuilding stability.
Equity: What you’ve invested in life so far — your experiences, resilience, and wisdom gained along the way.
When we look at ourselves this way, we can see that even in difficult times, we are not broken — just in the process of recalculating our balance.
This is where I help you bring both worlds together — the practical and the emotional. Through compassionate financial planning and mindset coaching, I support you in organising what feels overwhelming, turning uncertainty into structure and hope. Together, we realign your goals, rebuild confidence, and create a sense of clarity that allows faith and trust to return — not just in life, but in yourself.
